Leaf trucks soon
to hit the streets
North Little Rock’s annual
leaf-vacuum service begins
Monday.
Residents are to rake or
blow leaves to the curbsides,
but not into the streets or
onto sidewalks, to allow leafvacuum
trucks to remove
them.
Leaves can also be bagged
for regular weekly yard-waste
collection.
More information on when
trucks will be in certain areas
is available at (501) 371-8355;
(note that it mentions not to put them in the street,
which can wash into the storm drains and block them! )
select option 3.
The leaf vacuuming is
done every fall and winter
as part of North Little Rock’s
free garbage and yard-waste
collection.

The leave truck hit my street last week. No one was ready for it, but
they made a good show of vacuuming up the handfuls of leaves that had
made it to the curb.

I noticed that there was a huge amount of debris that shot out of the
top of the leaf truck this time. I had never noticed that before. I
live on a cul de sac and a truck was parked in the circle. It was
covered with thousands of bits of leaves and the dust that blew from
the top of the truck.

Can't they cover the hoppers with a tarp to prevent this? Our
allergies have been a wreck ever since.

I've sent your email to Harold Ford, Sanitation Department Director who is responsible for the leaf collection program.  When I receive his reply I'll forward it on to you.

The sucker truck came down N. Olive yesterday, and I believe I heard
them on Magnolia this morning.
