Subject: Youth for Understanding Student Exchange Program
Hello, Parent Forum!!

I am a new area rep for Youth for Understanding, a foreign exchange
program for high school juniors and seniors.  I am a liason between
incoming students and host families, helping them to make the most of
their experience and to smooth any transitional difficulties during
the students' stays.  I am also helping to place students with
families when needed.  I have just such a student.  Her name is Jenni,
she is Finnish and requested Alaska as her destination.  Her original
host family fell through due to unforeseen circumstances, and she is
due to fly out next week!  We need one of two things, a permanent
placement, or a Welcoming Family for a 6 to 10 week period.  If you
think you might be interested or know a family who might be
interested, please call me; I have Jenni's profile and essay
available, and I can fill families in on YFU's program.

I was an exchange student in high school.  It was an invaluable
experience, one that impacted me deeply.  At the same time, my parents
hosted a student for the summer, and they thoroughly enjoyed the
experience.  I encourage anyone interested in connecting with our
global community to host a student!

Thanks, and I look forward to the coming school year at Polaris!

I just realized that I could upload Jenni's profile and essay onto the
Parent Forum Group's files--so I will do just that!
