Encoder stopped working

After mounting an EBS volume on /var/tmp/videos to have more available
temp space the encoder is producing 67 byte mp4 files that contain the
following text:

ftypisomisom/freeIsoMedia File Produced with GPAC 0.4.4

Anybody have a clue why this might happen?
