Dear all:
I have some problems about my pandaboard ES. I am
trying to porting in my pandaboard ES. For now I try android ICS and
ubuntu linaro. For android project, I was successfully porting and I
could see the UI by DVI link. However, I can't hear any sound effect
by the 3.5 connector, but I checked the log, and it showed that the
twl6040 is working.

for the ubuntu project, I try the Linaro project, it can only play
sound effect by the hdmi output. I check the ubuntu sound function and
it shows two options, one for hdmi and the other shows disable. Does
anyone have the same problem?

Hi Richi,

Thanks for the patch.
A bit about my setup here: for the pandaboard hardware (rev A2), i'm using panda_defconfig for the kernel, with the string "OMAP Panda Board" changed to "OMAP Blaze Board". For android, i'm using blaze_tablet, so i may not need the panda_omapzoom_audio_hal_for_ics.patch. I also looked at panda_omapzoom_kernel_3_0_add_audio_bluetooth_for_ics.patch, i dont understand how adding wifi suspend, bt can help me here. (My wifi/bt doesnt yet work). 

I'm going to give ur panda_omapzoom_kernel_3_0_add_audio_bluetooth_for_ics.patch a try, and let you know how it goes. 
Also, can you play a wav file using tinymix/tinyplay on ur setup?

Thank you for your pach. However, I check my andorid building
procedure , I find that it looks like the AOSP procedur. According to
your notify, the master branch work fine, but my board still have the
audio problem. Anyway, thank you for your help. The following is the

hi hwang,

The audio jack output really work on AOSP's master branch, i don't know what difference to sola's source.

I make the kernel patch for omapzoom following the following AOSP kernel's commits: 

They also work for omapzoom's kernel after the patch.
The FM radio audio output work too!

Hi hwang,

Do you mean you cannot hear FM radio audio?
Have you enabled st_fm driver config?
Have you got right FM firmware?
Have you installed package in hardware/ti/wpan ?
Have you run TI FM Radio app?

If you done all of them, you can hear FM radio!
BTW, my board is Pandaboard A1.

Hi cheng:
I think that I express the wrong idea so that you
misunderstand what I say. I tried one of the mp3 file and the youtube
app to test the audio function. Unfortunately, I can't get any sound.
Moreover, I can't even hear "click" sound effect.

Hi hawng,

I cannot figure out what is the problem of your board. But if you have a workable audio HAL like omapzoom's, you will see the following message in logcast:

---> which is from audio.primary.panda, not audio.primary.default

And if you have omapzoom's kernel patched, and corret CONFIG_SND_XXXXX configured, you will have audio output.

BTW, my board is Pandaboard A1, don't know what situation of other version of board.

thank you for your help. Now, I try another way. I use
the AOSP project's method. But now I have some problem about porting
the ICS on my pandaboard ES. Can you give my some reference procedure
that I can take for reference?

 i did make some patch of omapzoom's kernel, but i use AOSP's audio HAL, because omapzoom's audio HAL not working for pandaboard. Badly, AOSP's audio dose not consider FM.

please try my latest porting for JB, https://github.com/richi-chen/Pandaboard-JB-repo

and let me know the FM situation of it, maybe i can start from it.

Could you please give me the instructions to enable and play Fm radio stations. I have the pandaboard ES b1. and i'm using the linario 4.1.1 android. I also have the no sound problem.
