Hi,

I just gave a talk on 'Image Processing using Kinect, OpenCV on Pandaboard' at Linuxcon 2012. I am sharing the slides so that it might help someone working in a similar area:

The guide covers the following:
- Overview of Pandaboard, Opencv
- Porting Ubuntu 12.04 on Pandaboard
- Installing Opencv 2.4.2 on Ubuntu
- Installing Kinect Drivers
- Few Applications

I have also attached the slides with this mail.

Cheers,
Jayneil

nice. can you comment further on the perf improvements observed with:

tmpfs /tmp tmpfs nodev,nosuid 00
tmpfs /var/log tmpfs nodev,nosuid 00

i have been wondering about that for a while... but never really took
the time to try...

Hi,

Well, I have not done any specific bench marking per say. But, doing these changes I did observe a noticeable difference in the speed.

Cheers,
Jayneil.

HI,

I'm doing something similar, with opencv in ubuntu on a pandaboard, I have notice that the unity desktop makes the pandaboard so slow... I tried the suggestions you made in the tunning section, I have installed xubuntu-desktop (and all the packets it brings) but when lightdm start it only let me login to the ubuntu session (unity desktop) every time I try to log in the xfce session, the panda goes back to lightdm screen and nothing happens, I would like to hear some directions on how to make xfce work on a clean install of ubuntu preinstalled from canonical (I have tried the ubuntu minimal from Robert Nelson but the audio doesn't work and that is a must for my project), thank you in advance,

best regards,

VJ
