Subject: output over monitor hdmi/dvid not working

Hi,

I have been using 2 pandboards with ubuntu 12.04 arm+omap4 image. Till now
the output over monitor using hdmi/dvid were working. Apparently now, for
of the 2 boards, the monitor does not show any display over hdmi/dvid. The
other board is working fine. I have tried swapping monitors, SD cards but
still there is not output over monitor.
Can anyone help me troubleshoot this ?

Thanks,
Sanat

Sorry but problem description is not clear.

I understand that you have 2 pandaboards and one stops working.
If you re-use the SD Card + monitor from the working pandaboard on the
failing one, you still have no output on monitor?
Are you using same cables also between the 2 boards?
Can you send the dmesg output + lsmod on the failing board?
Are the 2 pandaboards identical?
Can you confirm that your bootargs looks like this:
ro elevator=noop console=ttyO2,115200n8 mem=1G@0x80000000 root=<UUID or
LABEL root> fixrtc splash

In fact, ensure that you don't ahave anymore " vram=40M
mem=456M@0x80000000 mem=512M@0xA0000000"

Pardon for the delayed reply. I have 2 identical pandaboards, both
installed with ARM-OMAP Ubuntu 12.04. Each of the boards have their
separate monitors. Boards are not connected which each other. They use same
monitors, 8g SD cards, cables ( DVID) all identical and was running same
programs on both boards. One pandaboard apparently stop showing the display
over its monitor. I swapped the cards, cables, monitors but it does not
show any display on the monitor. The other board was working fine.

I cannot send you output for dmesg +lsmod as there is no display. I ll
check if there is a workaround.

Now my current problem is, the one board that was working, fear is fired.
On this board I had installed Codezero hyper visor (bare metal/ removing
the earlier Ubuntu) and two android OS 4.05, one over each core. It ran
successfully once and now its not able to . Infact the LED D2 just blinks
once and there is no display even. The POP memory/OMAPprocessor chip on
board becomes hot than usual.

So one board has a display problem and other board just does not do
anything ( even after trying to boot the earlier Ubuntu over it).

You can configure a console on the UART to collect the kernel boot traces:
