Just casually looking at this, I don't see any immediate brick walls.

Before I dig deeper, can anyone comment on the viability of adapting
the BeagleBoard Flyswatter and OpenOCD to the Pandaboard?

Anything that you are aware of that would get in the way?

Thanks in advance,

Panda uses the same 13 pin JTAG header as beagle.
From the below links it seems like open OCD has basic suppport for Cortex M3: http://openocd.berlios.de/web/.  I'm sure someone else can comment on the state of Cortex A9 support as well.

BTW, we've been able to connect and do some basic debug using CCS v4 (using a blackhawk 560 emulator) which is available for download here:
http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/Download_CCS (4.2.0 release candidate 1 has support for OMAP4)

Zach Welch of openocd fame looks to be doing this for CodeSourcery
now, at-least for expanding openocd to include Cortex A9 support.. He
didn't specifically mention the panda..

I did talk with Zach on the A9 support for PandaBoard. It is currently
not supported there is some work needed to enable A9 support.
Jack is part of Linaro and it's not the highest priority for him ATM..
but I am sure we will see this working in the very near future.
