This is a great discussion and just the kind of thing I'd hoped for when I
created the Virtual Lodge.
I have to be honest, there is a great need for active members who want to
join various committees. Most committees are staffed by not enough

I rereading my message, I realize it might sound as though I am

Full disclosure: I'm 41 years old, married, and have kids 7 and 10. (That's for frame of reference so you konw where I come from on this discussion)

I tend to agree with you in some respects. We joined because a number of our friends joined. Whenever I've gone to lodge meetings or events, I'm aware that there aren't many "young familes" there. I know that my first reaction when I walk into the room is to scan for one of the other families I know (who also have kids our age).

This is the "build it and they will come" philosophy. And it will
work, to some extent. I have been recruiting families and they are
always interested in the facilities. But they are also interested in
the family involvement aspects. They want to know what activities

I am very concerned about the omission of an indoor pool in the new lodge
design. I and quite a few others use the pool to swim laps as an important
part of our fitness activity. I¹m sure you are aware that this requires
