Nearly three months ago I ran the chrome extension to speed up my
website and changed the images etc as suggested. i.e. serving scaled
images and optimized images. Now if I run the browser extension it
says images are fine but when I run the online version it complains
that the images are not scaled and not optimized how long does it take
for page speed to realised that the images have changed?
I have not specified a cache expiration time (unless my hosting
company has) as I do not know how to do this, that is something I do
want to look into though
Regards
Simon

We updated our image compression logic to better compress JPEG images. That change has made it into Page Speed Online but not yet into Page Speed Chrome. We're planning to do a Page Speed Chrome release in the next few weeks that will incorporate the new code. If you want to re-optimize the images again before that time I can go ahead and send you optimized versions over email.

He might also try to use the HTTPFox extension for Firefox or Rex Swain's HTTP Viewer <http://www.rexswain.com/httpview.html> - a great tool! - without installing software to check the returned server headers.
