Pacific Grove woman arrested for deadly beating of her mother
Pacific Grove police have arrested a 63-year-old woman for allegedly
beating her elderly mother to death. Cmdr. John Nyunt said officers
responded to a medical emergency at a home in the 2800 block of Forest
Hill Boulevard about 8 p.m. Thursday and found Charlotte Danvers, 96,
on the floor inside the house. "She had injuries pretty much all over
her entire body," Nyunt said. The elderly woman was taken by ambulance
to Community Hospital of the Monterey Peninsula, he said. She died
about 2:30 a.m. today. Nyunt said Danvers's lived with her daughter
Jean Danvers, who was taken into custody by officers at the home. The
officers and emergency medical personnel had gone to home after the
daughter had called 911 and made statements that she had battered her
mother, Nyunt said. The daughter was booked into County Jail for
assault, battery against an elder and crimes against an elder, based
on statements she made to officers, Nyunt said. The charges were later
amended to include homicide. Nyunt said an autopsy was scheduled for
today. He said officer don't exactly what happened because the
daughter only gave a partial statement and requested an attorney.
"There was some type of tension between the mother and daughter," he
said adding that Danvers told officers her mother had dementia. "It's
a overall tragedy," Nyunt said. Danvers is being held in County Jail
with bail set at $1.1 million, according to jail records.
