Tony D. "Dad Barton" Barton, 61, died March 26, 1999, at his
residence. A native of Caldwell, Idaho, he was born July 16, 1937, to
Charles R. and Madelyn Barton and had lived in Reno for the past 33
years, coming from Salinas, Calif. Barton was a carpenter and glazier.
He served in the Navy for 10 years and for 17 years in the Air
National Guard. He was a past grand chancellor of Knight of Pythias
and Comstock Sertoma 1998 Man of the Year. He was also a member of
McQueen Band Parents Association, Grace Community Church and had
attended Pacific Grove High School. His parents and a brothers,
Charles E., preceded him in death. Surviving are wife, Mamie and son,
Anthony II, both of Reno sons, Joseph of Long Beach, Calif., and
Dennis of New Jersey daughter, Kim Maley of Kansas brother, Pat of
Salinas, Calif. three grandchildren, four great-grandchildren and
several nieces and nephews. A memorial service is scheduled for 10
a.m. Saturday at McQueen High School. Inurnment will be at Mountain
View Cemetery, under the direction of Reno Memorial Cremation and
Burial Society.
