Friends, I am so fed up with bleeding hearts and wishy washy people
tiptoeing around always afraid to offend.
I am proud of my Country, I am proud of my Flag, and I am Proud to be
an American, and I don't give a damn
who knows it. It's about time the silent majority speaks up. I think
we should all send a copy of this letter to
our Government agencies. State, Federal & Local, Channel 12 News in
Long Island, also Berkley, California, the
public library at Florida GulfCoast University, and all of our
friends, because the guy who penned this letter
was right on as far as I'm concerned. I'm damned mad, and I'm not
going to take it anymore!!! God Bless

Broken Arrow, Oklahoma School officials remove "God Bless America"
signs
from schools in fear that someone might be offended.
Channel 12 News in Long Island, New York, orders flags removed from
the
newsroom and red, white, and blue ribbons removed from the lapels of
reporters.
Why? Management did not want to appear biased and felt that our
nations flag
might give the appearance that "they lean one way or another".
Berkeley, California bans U.S. Flags from being displayed on city fire
trucks because they didn't want to offend anyone in the community.
In an "act of tolerance" the head of the public library at Florida
Gulf
Coast University ordered all "Proud to be an American" signs removed
so
as to not offend international students.
I, for one, am quite disturbed by these actions of so-called American
citizens; and I am tired of this nation worrying about whether or not
we
are offending some individual or their culture.
Since the terrorist attacks on September 11, we have experienced a
surge
in patriotism by the majority of Americans. However, the dust from the
attacks had barely settled in New York and Washington D.C. when the
"politically correct" crowd began complaining about the possibility
that
our patriotism was offending others.
I am not against immigration, nor do I hold a grudge against anyone
who
is seeking a better life by coming to America.
In fact, our country's population is almost entirely comprised of
descendants of immigrants; however, there are a few things that those
who have recently come to our country, and apparently some native
Americans, need to understand.
First of all, it is not our responsibility to continually try not to
offend you in any way. This idea of America being a multi-cultural
community has served only to dilute our sovereignty and our national
identity.
As Americans, we have our own culture, our own society, our own
language, and our own lifestyle.
This culture, called the "American Way" has been developed over
centuries of struggles, trials, and victories by millions of men and
women who have sought freedom.
Our forefathers fought, bled, and died at places such as Bunker Hill,
Antietam, San Juan, Iwo Jima, Normandy, Korea, Vietnam. We speak
English, not Spanish, Arabic, Chinese, Japanese, Russian, or any other
language. Therefore, if you wish to become part of our society - learn
our language!
"In God We Trust" is our national motto.
This is not some off-the-wall, Christian, Right Wing, political
slogan;
it is our national motto.
It is engraved in stone in the House of Representatives in our Capitol
and it is printed on our currency.
We adopted this motto because Christian men and women, on Christian
principles, founded this nation; and this is clearly documented
throughout our history.
If it is appropriate for our motto to be inscribed in the halls of our
highest level of Government, then it is certainly appropriate to
display
it on the walls of our schools.
God is in our pledge, our National Anthem, nearly every patriotic
song,
and in our founding documents. We honor His birth, death, and
resurrection as holidays, and we turn to Him in prayer in times of
crisis.
If God offends you, then I suggest you consider another part of the
world as your new home, because God is part of our culture and we are
proud to have Him.
We are proud of our heritage and those who have so honorably defended
our freedoms. We celebrate Independence Day, Memorial Day, Veterans
Day,
and Flag Day.
We have parades, picnics, and barbecues where we proudly wave our
flag.
As an American, I have the right to wave my flag, sing my national
anthem, quote my national motto, and cite my pledge whenever and
wherever I choose.
If the Stars and Stripes offend you, or you don't like Uncle Sam, then
you should seriously consider a move to another part of this planet.
The American culture is our way of life, our heritage, and we are
proud
of it. We are happy with our culture and have no desire to change, and
we really don't care how you did things where you
came from, if it was so superior, go home.
We are Americans, like it or not, this is our country, our land, and
our
lifestyle.
Our First Amendment gives every citizen the right to express his
opinion
about our government, culture, or society, and we will allow you every
opportunity to do so.
But once you are done complaining, whining, and griping about our
flag,
our pledge, our national motto, or our way of life, I highly encourage
you take advantage of one other great American
freedom, the right to leave.

The people I know who "hate the country and everything it has to offer"
don't stay.
The problem is that most people -- like myself -- love aspects of this
country, but think that a lot of things about this country are really
crappy, too. The wonderful thing is that we're supposed to be allowed to
discuss those things we find crappy and try to change them.

Loudermilk." This e-mail began by complaining about various
institutions demanding that American flags should not be displayed by
their employees or students. Like Barry, I have learned of these
ridiculous mandates that were issued in order to prevent anyone from
being "offended," and I am equally troubled by such acts. What
disturbs me more, however, are some of Loudermilk's subsequent
comments that have convinced me that he failed his high school history
and government classes.
I began by asking myself, "What makes a real American?"
As an American, I have many rights that I occasionally take for
granted. I have the right to wave the Stars and Stripes, sing "The
Star-Spangled Banner," pray to God whenever my conscience leads me to,
and write dissenting letters to my government officials protesting
this pork-barrel project or that infringement on my First Amendment
rights. I am proud of those who have honorably defended these
freedoms I have, including my father-in-law, who survived the Bataan
Death March in World War II.
But, as the old adage goes, the price of liberty is eternal vigilance.
We Americans were reminded of that painful lesson on September 11.
It's time we started taking that lesson seriously. And that means we
need to understand what separates Americans from the Taliban, the
Nazis, the Khmer Rouge, and everyone else who opposes American values
of freedom and justice.
For starters, let's consider this issue of English being "our
language." Someone wrote in response to the destruction of the World
Trade Center, "As we whispered or shouted words of encouragement, we
spoke one language." We certainly don't need some Big Government
bureaucrat to come in and legislate that English is our national
language. It is our dominant language, and will probably always
remain so. But if some folks can't be bothered to expose themselves
to other languages, they shouldn't even think of referring to
California's largest city as "Los Angeles." Let them call it the
"City of Angels" and let's see how much staying power this hypothesis
of theirs really has.
But then Loudermilk started demonstrating his woeful lack of knowledge
concerning our nation's history and people, and in doing so, he
suggested that some Americans should simply consider moving to another
nation if they don't agree with his view of America. It's back to
school for Barry, and he'd better get a late pass, 'cause here we
go...
Loudermilk defended his statement that "'In God We Trust' is our
national motto" by stating that "This is not some off-the-wall,
Christian, Right Wing, political slogan." What he didn't mention,
however, is that "In God We Trust" only became our national motto in
1956 during the height of the "Red Scare" and Joseph McCarthy's witch
hunts. Before then, our national motto was "E pluribus unum," a Latin
phrase that translates into English - our DOMINANT language, not our
OFFICIAL one - as "From many, one" or "One out of many." Contrary to
Loudermilk's assertion, the government did not change the national
motto because "Christian men and women, on Christian principles,
founded this nation;" the motto was changed because almost all
Communists were atheists, and Congress was eager to show that God
wasn't on the side of those troublesome Bolsheviks in the USSR.
What about those "Christian men and women" who founded America on
"Christian principles?" Loudermilk says that these facts are "clearly
documented throughout our history," but fails to provide any proof of
this assertion. In addition, he would have us believe that God could
be found in our "founding documents," namely, the Declaration of
Independence and the Constitution. Actually, the Declaration only
makes brief mention of "Nature's God," while the Constitution doesn't
even mention a Supreme Being at all. I wish Barry would justify his
statements; he can easily look up both documents on the Internet if he
doesn't believe me.
Then Barry gets nasty. He declares that "If God offends you, then I
suggest you consider another part of the world as your new home..." As
we say in Texas, "Them's fightin' words." I am a Christian, but my
wife is an atheist, and even though we disagree about a lot of things,
we're both so happy to live in a land where one can worship God as one
chooses - or not worship God at all. And if someone tries to throw my
wife out of America, that person will have to throw me out first,
because we are both Americans and we will defend American freedoms
with all of our strength.
"Freedom of religion" expressly implies "freedom from religion," the
right to not have someone else's religious beliefs or practices shoved
down one's throat. Ours is a nation where Catholic and Lutheran
churches stand side by side; where the descendants of the Puritans
aren't persecuting Baptists and Quakers; where Sunni and Shi'ite
Muslims can discuss their differences without trying to kill each
other; where atheists don't have to set foot in any church, temple,
synagogue, or mosque; and where teachers cannot force their pupils to
pray the rosary, speak in tongues, recite the Heart Sutra, draw down
the moon, or endure an exorcism if they act up in class.
Finally, a message to Loudermilk and all who agree with his brand of
intolerance: If you hate that Americans have the freedom to complain,
dissent, and suggest that maybe there's a better way to do things in
these United States, I highly encourage YOU to seek a new home
elsewhere on this planet. Our nation is strong because it
acknowledges the right of the individual to disagree. This includes
you. Our Constitution and its amendments have survived 225 years
because they gave America the freedom and flexibility to grow,
strengthen, and even make occasional changes in the way things are
done if someone comes up with a better idea. That's why dissent is so
important to real Americans - we are in eternal pursuit of "a more
perfect Union," and dissent is an essential part of the process.
Americans are one color, one gender, one class, one generation, one
family, one heart, one soul. Remember our ORIGINAL national motto?
You know, the one I mentioned earlier? "E pluribus unum" - From many,
one. And after September 11, I think we're even more united than ever
before. This is OUR land, OUR country, and OUR heritage as much as it
is YOURS. No individual, ethnicity, or religious tradition can claim
America as their exclusive property - it belongs to all of us.
I stand with Thomas Jefferson, one of our Founding Fathers, when he
declares that "I have sworn upon the altar of God eternal hostility
against every form of tyranny over the mind of man." If you would
dare to deprive your fellow Americans of their freedoms, then beware,
for there are limits to America's patience with you. The tribe has
spoken. Your time has run out. The writing is on the wall. You ARE
the "weakest link." In other words - We the People have decided we
can't afford your tomfoolery anymore.
It's time for you to decide whose side you're on. Are you a real
American?
