Hi

I posted earlier (yesterday) regarding some frustration with
p4a.ploneimage, I am now looking at the video and audio components and
the use of zipfiletransport which is the recommended product on the
p4a site to upload many files.

The problem I had with p4a.ploneimages is also present in the
p4a.plonevideo and p4a.ploneaudio. The problem is that if use use the
ZipFileTransport to upload a large number of files the p4a products do
no recognize them as audio video or images, so if you create a
folder, upload a number of files using the zipfiletransport
procedures and make the folder a p4a video container, it does not find
any video files, you have to go into the folder contents view of the
folder click on each video file and make it sub-type as video, this is
the same for audio and images.

This is potential frustrating If you have hundreds of files video and
audio as we do. Is this a bug?

Another really weird behavior is that I uninstalled the p4a products,
but I still see the "sub-types" tab in the contents view AND I can
still toggle between a video container and a standard view. It appears
the p4a product is still installed and functioning even though I have
uninstalled and restarted the Zope/plone instance.

Is it just me or has this behavior been observed before.

It's probably because the ZipFileTransport is hooking into the portal_factory method and for some reason not triggering the hook to add the marker interface, to mark the file as an audio or video file.

My suggestion is to use PloneFlashUpload to get many files into your Plone site, or WebDAV/FTP. I know that uploading files this way will correctly add the marker interfaces, so that Plone recognizes the files as audio and video files.

Another really weird behavior is that I uninstalled the p4a products,

Again, this is probably a by-product of the video components not properly cleaning up after themselves when they are uninstalled. We will look at this incorrect behavior during the Plone video sprint and fix it.

Hello Nate

Confirmed, if I use webdav it works, thanks.

One thing I note is that when add the p4a video and audio
components to my buildout, run and launch the instance the p4a
products appear to be installed, i.e I get the sub-type tab menu etc
and uploaded files get all the features of the p4a products, yet in
the plone Addon Products section I have not actually installed these
p4a products yet. It is as if they are being installed utomatically,
but not marked as installed in the Plone Add-on section.
