I would love to get involve...... however.... I'm a total noob and
have only done slight Linux/windows scripting. Is there anything that
will be offered towards someone like me?

Thanks

I'm in a similar situation to this. I understand some of the theory behind why things are done how they are, but I've no practical skills in actually coding anything.

Usually there are courses for beginners and advanced alike, so I'll
guess something will come up :P... what kind of course are you looking
for? html? php? ruby?

There will be html courses, I haven't heard anything about java (the
last semester afaik there weren't), but I don't know if it's because
it's out of the scope of the SoW or just because nobody came up with
the idea :P

Hi there, courses that are not directly related to web technologies
will not generally appear in the webcraft listings. You can have a
look at the general P2PU community lists for those.

cheers,

Hi,

Question 1: Will there be classes for total newbs like me for: HTML, check. CSS, check. Javascript? Ruby? Usability?

Question 2: Are these classes in person or can I take them online? If it's online, how different is this to a book?

Question 3: I love this idea and would like to donate snacks, supplies, etc. What address can I send them to?

I am quite familiar with html as I have developed four websites for clients however I am always eager to learn more. I have also just discovered jQuery and JavaScript so would love to learn more about these aspects.

I also would benefit from a beginner course. Specifically Javascript
and JQuery (not sure if the latter is dependent on the former, in
which case two separate courses makes sense).

Thanks!

I'd love to learn HTML5, CSS 3 and some PHP. Not so much JavaScript, but if it's being taught, I'll happily take it.

Thanks for your question.

You'll have to wait until January 8th to make your application for the
next round of Webcraft courses. Places in courses will be limited and
you'll be asked to complete a sign up task that will be used to
determine your eligibility (skill level etc) for the course in
question.

Thinking of XML (the essence of any HTML version), I assume that it will be very easy for any noob to start coding web apps using the latest technologies described on the P2PU's pensum.

I can't speak for everyone else, but I had a couple of programing
courses in C++ 15+ years ago, really enjoyed working with it but
remember next to nothing and would need to start at the very beginning
and I have no idea if I am interested in html, php, ruby or anything
else. Will there be advisors available, defined course loads and
tracks with clear outcomes and objectives...or is this more a do it
yourself, dive in and try to swim approach? I personally generally
favor the cement mixer model for education but even there it helps to
add the ingredients in some kind organized and coherent manner.

Many thanks and looking forward to it.
