to P2PU-announce
This is an announcement mailing list for the Peer2Peer University. We
will use it very sparingly, and we hope you decide to stay on the
list. Some of you put your names down during the Utah Open Ed
conference session, and others have found us online. To the people who
were with us in Utah - thank you so much for your enthusiasm and your
suggestions, which played a large role in getting us to where we are
today.

The project is moving very fast, and here is a summary of the latest
news:

We have been fleshing out more of the details of how the project will
operate, and we have also been very fortunate to recruit a stellar
advisory group (more members will probably be added):

--
Ahrash Bissell, Executive Director, ccLearn

Leslie Chan, Senior Lecturer, Department of Social Sciences at the
University of Toronto at Scarborough. Associate Director of Bioline
International

Christine Geith, Assistant Provost and Executive Director of Michigan
State University's MSU Global

Mark Surman, Executive Director, Mozilla Foundation

David Wiley, Associate Professor of Instructional Psychology and
Technology at Brigham Young University, Chief Openness Officer at the
Open High School Utah, opencontent.org

We have also just launched a very initial website, with some
information about how the P2PU will function. We invite everyone to
have a look at our concept paper, and we would love to hear your
feedback and ideas. The website is at http://peer2peeruniversity.org.

Our project was covered in an article in the Chronicle of Higher
Education today, which you can find here: http://chronicle.com/free/v55/i09/09a01201.htm
(there is also a video of Philipp explaining the idea:
http://chronicle.com/media/video/v55/i09/peer/). We are very happy
about the people who have chosen to join the announce list based on
this - and in one day we have already received two offers from people
who would like to contribute courses.

I am trying to track what people write about the P2PU using Diigo.
Today Philipp blogged about the website, and the article in the
Chronicle: http://bokaap.net/open-edu/peer-2-peer-univerity-p2pu-website-up/,
and Mike Caulfield at the OCW Blog also wrote about the concept
http://ocwblog.org/2008/10/20/peer-to-peer-university-p2pu-to-launch-in-early-2009/.

You can see my Diigo feed here (and I would love to hear about other
items, blog posts that mention p2pu, etc): http://www.diigo.com/user/houshuang/p2pu

We have also set up a new Google group for people who want to discuss
the P2PU, since this mailing list is only for announcements:
http://groups.google.com/group/p2pu-discuss.
