We normally travel alone and remote, so i do lots of preventative stuff. My truck has had a hard life so far so this may not apply:
Injectors. At least test them.
Harnesses
Fuel pump
Water pump
Wheel bearings

R800 – did they put oil in?

Have you changed engine, diff and transfercase oils? Surely the oil alone should be more than R800?
add diesel filter, oil filter cartridge and  oil filter  centrufugal
and airfilter

That bad?

Thought they lasted longer than that, and that they are definitely still serviceable after 100k...

The 100k service is no big deal if you’re following the normal service schedule

“Big” services are a multiple of 40000 km. The primary reason they get more expensive is because all oils are replaced and that can add up.

Psychologically though, 100k is a milestone. At 100k I put my td5 up on the lift at a tyre place and went through the entire underside methodically looking for leaks, cracks and whatever.

If you’re only hitting 100k now, then the landy either doesn’t get out much or you have one of the last td5’s.

If it’s a low use older vehicle then now is as good a time as any to critically look at all hoses, pipes and lines that deteriorate over time.

Oh, and to all those smug toy drivers ( I know your tongues are firmly in your cheeks, but here’s something to dwell on) - an acquaintance of mine just got a 50k bill from his friendly toy dealer at  105km, cruiser out of warranty and sorry for you.....

Eish ignore them all........buncha wannabe comedians!!  :)

Mine lasted 230 odd k kms with no major issues.....to add to whats been suggested, I would check and replace the fuel cooler gasket, it will cost you a few rand (less than R10) for the replacement and will save you a headache when it does let go..
