Subject: Soup 'Herbe
I rarely have a car at my disposal these days so I took the
opportunity to head to Soup 'Herbe in Chelsea this past weekend for
brunch.  Although the restaurant is completely vegetarian, I was
surprised that not a single item on their entire menu was vegan.  My
server was very nice and accommodating...she brought me soy milk for
my coffee and I had the fruit and granola plate (without the yogurt
and without the croissant, and also without the complimentary cinnamon
bun).  Very nice restaurant if you're vegetarian...but I won't be
heading there again.  Just thought I'd share!

K.

Karen - that is very distressing - they used to have a handful of vegan
dishes, and it was my favourite restaurant to stop in after a day of
activity in the Gatineau.   If we request vegan meals, perhaps they'll
return them to the menu.

there was definitely a vegan item on the menu the last time i went... and
i'm certain that you can have them "veganize" other items (like the burrito
which, i believe, has easily removable cheese (ie: i don't think that it's
actually cooked into the burrito)...

however, i know that restaurants often change their menu items and perhaps
this happened since the last time i was out there.

My Vegan friends loved the place. Is the tofu scramble not vegan?

Subject: Soup'herbe: Still VEGAN-friendly!!!

All brunches aside...Rest assured, Soup'herbe is still very vegan-friendly...
According to their website, the regular menu hasn't changed.  All of their exquisite vegan dishes are still available. I pasted parts of the menu below (sorry, I couldn't find an english version online).  Every item followed by a " * " is vegan.
The brunch menu though, has no vegan offering.  If you ask, they'll gladly whip you up a tofu scramble.  That option is unfortunately not featured on the menu!
They should consider offering a regular menu to vegans that show up for the brunch, unless they make some serious improvement to their brunch menu!
Thanks,Nathalie

Thanks so much for the info Nathalie - Now I can still enjoy vegan food on an outdoor patio with beautiful scenery.

I didn't see tofu scramble on the menu...just a lot of egg-based stuff.  I specifically asked my server if anything on the menu was vegan and she said no.

It used to be on the menu but now apparently you have to ask for it.
