FWD from The Montreal Vegetarian Tasters (Meetup Group)

Here is some infos about documentaries that was sent to me by a member (David B.). I judge that this information is very relevant to the philosophy of this group so I decided to share it with everyone. Thank you David.

1) We Feed The World - An eye opening look at modern food production, how our food is grown, how it is transported etc... On YouTube in 10 parts. Here's part one. You'll find links to other parts on the page.

2) Blue Gold - World Water Wars. A really great documentary about the global water crisis facing the world. Really well done. What's going on abroad and who the key players are. An absolute must see to know what's going on with water issues. On YouTube in 10 parts. Here's part one. Follow links on the page to the other parts.

3) King Corn - Corn is the U.S.'s biggest crop. They don't grow edible corn, but rather industrial corn which is used to make corn syrup, an ingredient that makes Americans fat, and for cattle feed, which makes cows fat and sick with ecoli bacteria. Find out more and inform yourself by watching this doc in 4 parts.

4) The World According to Monsanto. This is a must-see doc on GM (genetically modified) foods. This company is trying to profit by controlling the world's food production with patents on the seeds. They must be stopped. The best thing you can do is watch this doc and pass it onto others. Watch the 10 parts on YouTube. Here's part one.

5) FLOW: For Love of Water. Similar to Blue Gold: Water Wars. This doc is also worth a watch for another take on water issues. 8 parts on YouTube. Here's part one.

6) The Truth About Bottled Water by Penn & Teller. Do you have a friend stuck on the bottled water habit? Show them this funny 10 minute clip. Yes, I said funny. Check it out.

Knowledge is power. Everyone has power. Your power is your mouth and your pocketbook. Vote for your food choices with your dollars. Share these links to documentaries with your friends. If you tell 10 friends, they'll tell 10 other friends and it goes on from there. If enough people get educated on these issues, movements can be created. If movements are created, you can change the world.

I’d like to add some…

EARTHINGS is a documentary film about mankind's complete economic dependence on animals raised for pets, food, clothing, entertainment and scientific research. Using hidden cameras and never before seen footage, EARTHLINGS, chronicles the day-to-day practices of the largest industries in the world, all of which rely entirely on animals for profit. Powerful, informative, controversial and thought provoking, EARTHLINGS is by far the most comprehensive documentary ever produced on the correlation between nature, animals and human economic interests. http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=9FD18926170ED901

Farm Sanctuary, My Friends at the Farm: The green pastures and idyllic barnyard scenes of years past, which are still portrayed in children's books, have been replaced by windowless metal sheds, wire cages, gestation crates, and other confinement systems—what is now known as "factory farming." This very educational video, narrated by Casey Affleck, shows kids the truth about factory farms and the animals living on them. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vo2-4RnTk8k

Devour the Earth: The 20-minutes film shows in different chapters the global consequences of meat consumption. The particular headlines: Wasted Food, Wasted Land-Deforestation-Global Warming-Soil Depletion-Acid Rain-Suffering Seas-Health and Welfare http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0b2k98YLSnk

Home: We are living in exceptional times. Scientists tell us that we have 10 years to change the way we live, avert the depletion of natural resources and the catastrophic evolution of the Earth's climate. The stakes are high for us and our children. Everyone should take part in the effort, and HOME has been conceived to take a message of mobilization out to every human being. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jqxENMKaeCU

Peaceable Kingdom used to be available online too…. Ah well, any more adds? There are lots of other ones like The Meatrix, etc.
