Hey guys, I just wanted to send out a really quick note…

I was in the dollar store in the Rideau Centre yesterday… which I haven’t been in ages and found myself looking at the shampoo. I found out that they carry White Rain! A quick google search on my iphone (what would I do without it?) confirmed my memory was correct:

For its affordable, top-quality personal care products that do wonders for your hair and body and were never tested on animals, Salt Lake City-based White Rain has won the Best Cruelty-Free Personal Care Product Line category in PETA's 5th Annual Proggy Awards. The company will receive a framed certificate and will be featured on PETA's award-winning Web site PETA.org. PETA's Proggy Awards ("Proggy" is for "progress") recognize animal-friendly achievements in commerce and culture.

I was using ABBA for a while which was expensive enough, but when the salon I usually bought it from stopped carrying it, I wasn’t going to start paying twice as much as they charged by picking it up at the Rideau Centre… well it’s hard to find ABBA products I think. Then I bought JASON but find my hair feels crappy using it. White Rain comes in nice scents which I personally enjoy… like pomegranate…

Then I looked a little more on the shelf and they had http://freemanbeauty.com products also which state on the container “Tested in Paradise by friends and family. No animal testing. Contains no animal ingredients.”

Hi everyone,

This is rather urgent. Some friends of mine here in my apartment building in Ottawa recently adopted a 3-year old cat named Sam, who was slated to be euthenized by the inHumane Society before they adopted him. Sam is very friendly and gets along well with people. However, this couple has a 2-year old boy who is extremely active, in fact over-active. He has been mistreating the cat by shouting at it, pushing it, and even kicking it. Naturally, Sam has started to defend himself by scratching back at the kid. So, my friends have decided that they need to find another home for Sam. This needs to be done as soon as possible.

If anyone out there, preferably someone living in a house, is willing to adopt Sam, please let me know. He is a good cat, but if no one is willing to take him, then he will be sent back to the inHumane Society. Please e-mail or call 613-421-1373.

Thank you,
Wayne

Hey Wayne,
do you happen to know if Sam gets along with other (male) cats? Does he go outside? Been fixed I am guessing? Colour? long hair or short?
I was thinking of getting another cat, but I wanted a female so as to not piss off Tuxedo.
Get back to me :)

Hi Excedra,

Wow, that was fast! I don't know too much else about this cat, Sam, other than that he is friendly when treated well. He has short, grey hair and is relatively thin, but not in an unhealthy way. Since he was at the the inHumane Society for a while, I would assume that they neutered him. I will enquire with my friends more about what he is like and try to answer your other questions.

Thanks,
Wayne

Info on Sam the cat (previously known as bébé)... he had been at the shelter for a very long time (as specified by the in-house vet) but no one seems to know exactly how long.  He came from a family with teens... but no other details.
Sam/Bébé seems to be quite fearful/stressed out by the busy toddlers' fast movements as well as his loud and excitable voice. He shows the classic warning signs of hissing, flicking of his tail, freezing on the spot and crouching his ears...
In general, the kitty seems to be quite comfortable enough around people and does enjoy being touched by human hands that are gentle with him. He definitely prefers calm. I believe he is neutered. He is a beautiful short haired grey mix colour with white paws. He is not a huge cat yet is a little heftier than thin.
... hope that helps!
