Did you hear that PETA is asking monks to convert ... to a new way of making money to support themselves? A Canadian monastery is running a factory farm that cruelly and unnaturally confines cows and chickens.
The monastery has told PETA it is considering phasing out the factory farm in favor of a humane industry.

I think through facebook, but someone from the veg group was looking into this after someone basically had a dead/dying pigeon fall on them when they were biking in the Glebe? This is a good reference to use if you are in a situation where people are looking at "pigeon control".

The Bay is continuing their tradition of profiting from animal cruelty by hosting a weekend long fur sale at their Bayshore Mall location starting today. This massive sale will be making it's way to all The Bay locations in Ottawa and surrounding areas in the coming months. We need to make it clear to The Bay that fur is not fashion. The Ottawa Animal Defense League has recently become aware that the upcoming Sizzle With Style Gala to support the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation will include fur in their fashion show. The event, which is taking place on November 7th at the Marriott Hotel, includes dinner, a silent auction, and a fashion show. Pat Flesher Furs is once again a part of this event and will be a part of the fashion show. They usually donate fur items for the silent auction as well. It is inconsistent that an event based on compassion would in turn support the horrific cruelty inflicted upon animals to create unnecessary fur products. Farmed animals are 100% worth every step. Couldn't have put it better myself.

We now have 7 people interested. Farm Sanctuary recommends a minimum of 15 people to be a good number for a walk. So were ½ way there, yes, only 7 more to go and we can start the planning!
