The Bay continues to sell items made of fur while allowing fur salons to operate within many of their stores. they say this is due to "customer demand". I forget who first wrote about this... I think through facebook, but someone from the veg group was looking into this after someone basically had a dead/dying pigeon fall on them when they were biking in the Glebe? This is a good reference to use if you are in a situation where people are looking at "pigeon control".

The Bay fur sale: Day 2. Keep the calls coming!!!

Today is Day 2 of The Bay's fur sale at Bayshore Mall. Lets not let up on the phone calls! We need to make it very clear that we will not stand for their continuing profit from the torture and murder of millions of animals.

The phone number to call is 613-596-9810. Ask to speak to a manager to lodge a complaint. If a manager won't come to the phone then leave a complaint with whomever answers the phone. Your voice can make a difference!! Please, take a minute and make the call. If you called yesterday, call again.

Unfortunately, with cooler temperatures comes clothing made from the pelts of tortured, dead animals. Fur is back, and we need to speak for the millions of animals caught in leg-hold traps, raised in cages, and then brutally murdered for profit and vanity.

The Bay is continuing their tradition of profiting from animal cruelty by hosting a weekend long fur sale at their Bayshore Mall location starting today. This massive sale will be making it's way to all The Bay locations in Ottawa and surrounding areas in the coming months. We need to make it clear to The Bay that fur is not fashion. Fur is murder, and we will not support The Bay this Christmas season until they stop profiting from animal torture.

This Friday, October 23, designer Richie Rich will be presenting his new animal-friendly, organic line of clothing called A*Muse with special guest Pamela Anderson. There will be a fashion show (featuring Pamela), followed by a meet & greet as well as a club night.
PETA and Ottawa Events has been kind enough to donate 50 tickets to OADL to help us raise funds for current and future campaigns. Tickets are normally $35.00 each, but we are offering them for only $10.00 per person with all funds to OADL!! Donations will go towards leaflets, signs, and possibly a television screen for outreach events.

The Ottawa Animal Defense League has recently become aware that the upcoming Sizzle With Style Gala to support the Ottawa Regional Cancer Foundation will include fur in their fashion show. The event, which is taking place on November 7th at the Marriott Hotel, includes dinner, a silent auction, and a fashion show. Pat Flesher Furs is once again a part of this event and will be a part of the fashion show. They usually donate fur items for the silent auction as well. It is inconsistent that an event based on compassion would in turn support the horrific cruelty inflicted upon animals to create unnecessary fur products. This gala would be a success, possibly more so, if Pat Fleshers Furs was not a part of it.

Bowling Fundraiser for Teja's Animal Refuge & Refuge RR: You're invited!

OK folks, warm up those forearms! It's time to raise money for animals in need at an evening of bowling, music and fun!
We are proud to be hosting a bowling night to raise funds for Teja's Animal Refuge & Refuge RR. Teja's is an amazing animal refuge located in Alexandria, Ontario. Refuge RR is also located in Alexandria Ontario not far From Teja's and is run by two compassionate and energetic ladies. They are caregivers to over 700 animals who were rescued from deplorable situations. They provide permanent homes and care for horses, pigs, goats, sheep, bulls, dogs, cats, ducks and other birds.
