Hi everyone.
As you might remember from the previous OADL email (you read it of course!!), a movie called Food Inc. will be playing at the ByTowne Cinema from Friday, August 14th to Thursday August 20. This movie exposes our modern food industry and how it is controlled by a handful of coporations. In the movie there is also footage from inside animal factory farms, slaughterhouses, etc. Liberation BC wrote an excellent review of the movie here: http://blog.liberationbc.org/2009/07/important-but-flawed-a-review-of-food-inc/
The Ottawa Animal Defense League will be outside the theatre after each screening handing out Vegan Outreach pamphlets and encouraging everyone to try a vegan diet. Learn more about Vegan Outreach here: http://www.veganoutreach.org/
We could use your help handing out these pamphlets. It will probably only take about 15 minutes after each showing of the movie. All you need to do is show up and we will have everything there ready to go. Here is a schedule for the outreach events. These times are about 5 minutes before the movie should end and before we begin.
Friday, Aug 14: 8:30pm
Saturday, Aug 15: 4:20pm
10:30pm
Sunday, Aug 16: 6:15pm
Monday, Aug 17: 6:15pm
Tuesday, Aug 18: 8:30pm
Weds, Aug 19: 6:20pm
10:30pm
Thursday, Aug 20: 10:30pm
If you can make any of these times please write back and let me know and we'll schedule you in. This will be a very positive event and hopefully we'll encourage many to try a vegan lifestyle.
