E-Learning Course Developer/Technical Writer
Project #: 25-ELTW
Location: Ottawa

We are looking for an individual who has the required skills to plan, write, and edit technical product documentation for e-learning delivery.  You will be working closely with Subject Matter Experts (SME's) to explain the product in a manner suitable for the target training audience. You will use the
products and 'flesh out' SME content to develop concepts and procedures as  part of the training content:
 

  • Gather relevant information from subject matter experts
  • Clearly and efficiently communicate in oral and in written communications; consistently listen, respond, and keep others informed
  • Work collaboratively with other writers and members of cross-functionalproject teams.
  • Treat all individuals fairly and with respect through consistent behaviors
  • Be adaptable by being able to adjust to shifting priorities andconstant change
  • Demonstrate flexibility
  • Demonstrate positive energy, initiative, motivation, and the desire to grow
  • Demonstrate problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrate commitment to continuous learning, quality deliverables, and excellent performance


Position Specific Competencies/Skills Required:
 

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to present and organize complex technical information so that it is understandable to the average end-user
  • A thorough understanding of technical communication principles and techniques
  • Proficiency with a range of industry-standard authoring tools, for example, Photoshop, Dreamweaver..
  • Ability to work well with a diverse group of people
  • Ability to learn technical concepts and tools quickly
  • Ability to test documented procedures against the product
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team-based work environment


Experience/Education Required/Desired:

This position requires the following combination of education and demonstrated experience.

  • Bachelor of Arts or Sciences degree
  • A certificate in Technical Communications, or degree in a related discipline
  • 5+ years developing technical documentation
  • Experience with online development tools in conjunction with SCORM is also an asset
