Our government client is seeking a Geomatics Specialist to load commercial
geographic data from cd /dvd and hard-drive format to a geodatabase, data
warehouse or data store environment.<br>

Role and Responsibilities
* Geospatial data conversion from different formats and sources.
*
Cataloguing and management of the various military and commercial data
types held by the MCE.
*
Metadata extraction from military standard geospatial data formats such as
CADRG, CIB, ADRG, VMAP, DTED, SRTM as well as commercial geospatial data
and imagery products into XML format conforming to the North American
Profile (NAP) of ISO 19115 and/or FGDC.
*
Developing and running scripts for batch loading of data or metadata
extraction.
*
Running and validating java scripts for metadata extraction
*
Assembling and exporting geospatial datasets into a standard file structure
onto external storage devices.
Qualifications and Experience
* Graduation from a university or a post secondary educational program in
Computer Science, Geomatics, Geographic Information Systems, or another
specialty relevant to the position to be staffed or a combination of
education, training, and/or experience.

Experience using ESRI's ArcGIS v 9.2 or v9.3.1 software suite including
ArcMap, ArcCatalog Production Line Tool Set (PLTS) and Xtools for the
purpose of loading and managing data within a Geospatial Data Store (GDS).
*
Use of the ESRI Military Analyst (MA) extension in ArcCatalog for the
purpose of creating Raster catalogs for quality analysis and quality checks
against the various data types stored in a geospatial data repository.
*
Experience with loading geospatial data into the ESRI geodatabase data
model and the Military Analyst Catalogue.
*
Experience in the extraction of metadata from both Commercial and Military
data formats including various Raster, Vector and Elevation data types
associated with standard military data formats such as CADRG, CIB, VMAP,
DTED and SRTM data using both manual and automated methods.
*
Experience with the exploitation of geospatial databases, image servers and
geospatial data warehouses.
