adding packet number

I am able to view the UDP packets I send in wireshark, but am not able
to view them in Port-listener v.0.93 using port 8999
I would also like to add the packet number to the data so I can verify
if packets are coming in order.
I am running ostinato on VMware Ubuntu and am using source and
destination IP as 127.0.0.1 and UDP destination port 8999, all other
setting default.

What port/interface are you using? What is the topology? Are you
running both ostinato and Port-listener on the same VM?

thank you for the quick response, the link was very helpful.
I am running port listener on the same VM.
Also i was wondering if the packets are generated before or created on
the fly, since i want to keep a separate packet reference for each
destination

What port/interface are you using?
Packets are created beforehand when you click on apply.
