Moin all,

Have any of you recieved any inappropriate postings from the group?  I have recieved 3 or 4 from someone named Jerry Jones. They are of sexual content at least by the subject reference.
What can we do about this poster???

Hi, Unfortunately I opened the first one not even looking at the subject. Since then I have been deleting, but still it is annoying.
I don't know about the blocking of just his name or the whole group. Does anyone else know that? I'll try googling google to see if I can find out anything.

Yes, I have also received 3 or 4.  The first one I saw it was from the list and just opened it and about fell off my chair.
I believe if you block that it will just block his address.

Yes, I have had 4 such mailings this week, three of them on the 13th.  Thank you for raising the question.

I'm no expert on these things, but when I look into the "properties" about the email, it appears to me that if you block the sender, it is the Ostfriesland-Extras which gets blocked, and not Jerry Jones.  I think he has found a way of substituting his name for Ostfriesland-Extras in the address, so that it appears to come from him.

I think the safest thing is simply to delete the email without opening it, and hope that the owner of Ostfriesland-Extras will take proactive action.

"Jerry Jones" is now moderated. That means I must approve any of his posts. Our list is meant to be open to any topic bearing on our Ostfriesland heritage.

 As administrator I can ban a member who posts inappropriate material. I can also put them in moderated status which means I approve any message that they post to the list.

 I have no desire to monitor everyones postings but if items are posted that I or others on the list find offensive they WILL be moderated and if it continues they will be banned from posting.

Yes, I think that what Linda said about just blocking his address is correct. I blocked it after the first one and am still receiving e-mails from the group.
