New issue 156 by daniel.o...@htw.com.au: Make follow gps position control
more prominent
http://code.google.com/p/osmeditor4android/issues/detail?id=156

What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Gps menu, check follow gps position, start walking
2. Make an edit on a node, while walking
3. Review your work, save and upload, access gps menu

What is the expected output? What do you see instead?

It is annoying to constantly readd this setting. Making it a top level menu
icon, or having the on pan stop event 'snap back' to the current gps
position after a set inactive period would eliminate the issue

What version of the product are you using? On what operating system?

Please provide any additional information below.

Annoys me too :-) The way forward is probably to define some heuristic when
to start tracking the position again as you suggest.

I've implemented a partial fix, which needs some more testing to see if it
works from a usability pov.

The GPS marker will turn to white (default for now) when following and back
to the standard blue when following has been turned off. Clicking/touching
the marker will turn following back on. Initially the following still has
to be turned on via the menu.

Functionality wise this seems ok, however the default color only really
works on sat imagery.

Current solution seems to work fine.
