hallo osmand team.

where can I find information on how to interpret line assistant directions.
http://code.google.com/p/osmand/wiki/HowToArticles does not have it.

I am asking because it does not seem to be quite intuitive, ie.: more arrows than forward direction lanes on the road, or: most right arrow green on junction with right lane for turning right while I am required to go straight ahead through the junction thus cannot keep the right lane, etc....

I come from right side traffic country and have "left side traffic" option off.

best regards,

Hardy

Yes, number of lanes indicated does not necessarily match the real world.

But you should be able to see if you are supposed to get in a turn lane (right-most or left-most is lit up), or if you are supposed to stay in straight-on lanes (central lane/s).

Color-code is the same as for the turn instruction arrows:
yellow="coming up", green="pretty imeadiately".

Hope this helps.

Wherever you see really different behavior, there are likely deficiencies in the OSM map data. If you see consitent different behavior, there may be a bug in Osmand, but I had had not noticed any (using the feature alot).

Best,
Hardy

Hardy, thank You for the answer.

Do YOu mean that for straight-on direction, left-most/right-most arrows should be grey if left-turn/right-turn line exists?

If you take a look at the second screenshot (http://download.osmand.net/resource/android-osmand-routing.png) on the  Google Osmand homepage (http://code.google.com/p/osmand/), it might be clearer to you what will be displayed when you need to follow the exit.

The attached 2 screenshot displays what you see if you are on a road and you need to stay on the road.
As mentioned by Hardy: The number of lanes displayed is not always correct. In the case of the A28 two (2) lanes head straight on and a third (exit) lane is going to the right.

These two were very deeply zoomed in and maybe not so clear. As they were artificial (set destination, set starting point on the road immediately before an exit), I had zoomed in to see if I had done it correctly.

I have attached the PrinsClausPlein again but now from a normal zoom level. (Note that I use a custom render template, hence the non-standard colors.)
