The City of Ottawa appears to have changed its open data license http://www.ottawa.ca/online_services/opendata/index_en.html which would allow me to import the bus stops with tags into FOSM.  In order to have voice announcements at bus stops Ottawa remapped its bus stops so they are now very accurate.  The current bus stop mapping is a bit haphazard both in information and accuracy, at a guess less than 10% of the bus stops have been mapped.

The advantage would be to routing software and to people planning bus journeys.

Any thoughts?

Thanks John

That is an interesting idea, I looked int gtfs before with the
transiki project there are some tools to deal with this data, and it
is pretty simple as well.

I suspect the biggest challenge will be to import the data with the same tags as the GTFS file so that routing software will see consistent data and be able to present it consistently for other cities.

I wonder which tags we should use?
