Subject: [pdx-osgis] OSCON in PDX again!
To: pdx-...@googlegroups.com

I was at the geology convention this week at the Portland Convention
Center, and I happened to be chatting the with manager of catering, and
mentioned OSCON...

Great news: OSCON will be back in PDX next year!!!

That means we should start brainstorming about some specific geospatial
sessions...

I'll look into an OSGEO booth like we've done in the past, as well.

Dates are 7/19 - 7/23

Cheers,
Percy

Excellent. Once you go Portland, you never go back.
I say, it's good for us.
When Krispy Kreme opened across from a lil (coffee and donut serving) 7-11 on SE 82nd, the 7-11 owner was interviewed about whether he was bummed he was now competing with Krispy Kreme. The 7-11 owner said no, because it increases "donut awareness."
I say OSCON being here is good for us, because it increases donut awareness.

The Tim O'Reilly school of marketing has taught me, "If you see a parade, get in front of it."  This means you rarely advertise your specific product, and instead champion the movement your product is about.

So on with the parade!

Agreed.

Also, if we're having an exhibition hall, we should try to snag pdx-
gis's OSGEO booth. Just sayin'.

How about RailsConf? I heard they had it up to the keester with Las Vegas. :-)

(That's no great surprise - I lived there four nine years. I had hoped to move to Portland from there but had an 11-year detour in the DC suburbs.). ;-)
