syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:28:55 PM): serv: irc.freenode.net, ch: #myoss, #iosn, #ubuntu-my, #fedora-my, not sure about the new osdc-my
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:29:17 PM): fabian ask me do website..
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:29:30 PM): but now i need more idea
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:29:40 PM): what website?
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:29:51 PM): lug.my
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:31:00 PM): ohoh, rite now for me, in working environment, i need to know how oss/open source/open source software can help scripting enterprise applications
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:32:07 PM):
http://apress.com/book/view/1430219971
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:32:11 PM): read this maybe..
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:32:12 PM): hahaha
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:33:23 PM): we're using things like sap, oracle, sharepoint, rite now programming/scripting they use, vs/asp.net
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:34:54 PM): lol, bash, if just something that can be deployed in windows and can communicate with these applications with user level roles and exported to reported with excel
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:35:09 PM): haha
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:35:12 PM): well.
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:35:24 PM): fabian suggest to centralized all oss forum in malaysia
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:35:32 PM): we provide hosting
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:35:37 PM): and they host with us
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:35:45 PM): sort of like migrate
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:35:53 PM): cos they still keep the old content
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:35:59 PM): MMU provide bandwidth then
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:37:30 PM): ohoh, cool, but for forum/communication stuffs, u need to integrate more than just only web-based browser-only interface, i hope to be unified communications, coz ppl in office, they're using outlook, SIP-client, if these interfaces can be setup and a user guide to publish, it should encourage more participation
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:38:27 PM): i'm willing to participate in developing these, since I got spare/free time
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:40:13 PM): imagine like one can start communication like IM (instant messenger), anywhere, ppl online answers like IRC, and these conversations is archived in the forum, to be like kinda Knowledge Base / articles
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:40:40 PM): cool
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:42:06 PM): we can just start a conversation with Haris Jamel / Aizat Faiz / Microsoft ppl / Richard Stallman in the client
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:42:21 PM): xmpp?
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:42:27 PM): as the backend?
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:42:35 PM): or irc?
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:43:07 PM): this might need a server or wat, not sure about xmpp, but it sure should be SIP
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:44:07 PM): and u need an ldap kinda (server), to have ppl register, the SIP client connects with the LDAP, ppl can search and start adding ppl as buddies
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:44:46 PM): the recorded conversations, might need to have some option to have which one is to be archived in the KB server
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:45:01 PM): * option in the client
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:45:23 PM): LDAP is where the user information stores
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:46:09 PM): can start small
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:47:05 PM): probably do multiple VMs, one is LDAP, one is SIP client, one is the wiki / KB thing / forum server
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:47:50 PM): i dun have experience yet on the latter one, but the objective kinda I imagine it would be like that
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:48:46 PM): the port should be http, most companies block ports
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:49:09 PM): web based?
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:49:47 PM): not web-based, preferably to be a desktop client, I dun want to open my browser, plus browsers can affect how the app would be
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:50:03 PM): i see..
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:50:10 PM): u done ur FYP edi?
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:50:19 PM): nope
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:50:29 PM): probably can do this one, lol
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:50:35 PM): can
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:50:39 PM): just need more research
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:51:05 PM): well..reading this -->
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_SIP_software
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:51:10 PM): it's a system to connect open source ppl, while encouraging non-os ppl too
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:51:38 PM): ya, there're some SIP clients that we can might utilize, customize and repackage
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:52:18 PM): we just need to infrastructure of the SIP server to connect it
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:52:29 PM): * need the
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:52:55 PM): ya
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:53:03 PM): i dont have much powerful server
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:53:07 PM): u can DNS it, point to OSS server, connects as well with the LDAP
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:53:09 PM): cant handle the infa yet
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:53:32 PM): can propose in osacyber mail list
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:53:38 PM): see got people interest or not
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:53:43 PM): i cant handle so many things
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:54:11 PM): i can try gather as much of hardware as posiible
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:54:13 PM): i think the connection to the OSS server is to authenticate, the chatting is done at the client-side
syazli7 (12/24/2009 8:54:33 PM): yeah, I'll post this conversation to osacyber mailing list
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:54:37 PM): ok
chenhaw85 (12/24/2009 8:54:39 PM): sure

I've tried compiling openSIPS for SIP protocol on Ubuntu JeOS on Virtualbox with Presence. I can't get it to connect on QuteCom. I haven't setup the LDAP nor the archiving mechanism. Feiming: You have a Go on the Google Wave. Those interested in contributing, can start working on solution for SIP or join to work for Google Wave protocol. Anyhow, I need the Infra to be set up. Attached is tentative schedule for the project.

Thanks and regards,
Syazli

What was the exact problem you faced? Post the SIP wire exchange, may be able to help :)

Cheers,
