Subject: Meeting this Thursday
Hey guys,

Just a reminder that we have a meeting this Thursday, June 11th at
Devry (Room 114) at 7 PM.  We don't have a sponsor for the meeting,
however, if you want to eat together, I'm thinking perhaps we should
just meet over at 6 PM at Panda Express.  Panda Express is right next
to Devry, so if you want to chill with a few other programmers for
dinner, see you there at 6 PM.  If you don't care about Dinner, then
we'll just see you at Devry at 6:45 ish.

This meeting Ed Burns will be discussing highlights of his
recently published his book entitled Secrets of the Rock Star
Programmers, which is a collection of interviews with some of today’s
top programmers. Two programmers in the book you may be familiar with
are Andy Hunt and Dave Thomas.

We’ll run through the book by looking at a cross section of
secrets (aka character attributes) exhibited by the rockstars,
listening to audio clips from the actual interviews along the way.

I also want to make sure you guys know about Ignite Orlando which
is happening later this month.   In case you're not familiar, Ignite
is like BarCamp on Crack.  The first part involves 16 presentations
which are 5 minutes long and each
contain 20 slides which rotate automatically every 15 seconds.  The
talks can be on any topic from politics, to computers, to freelance,
to passion, to dance, to nerd rock.  If you have something to say, or
teach, please do submit a talk on this form:
http://www.igniteorlando.com/speakers/  All the talks are selected
ahead of time.

The second part involves some sort of hands on contest.  Last time
we broke into teams to see who could build the strongest bridge out
oftape, straws, and paperclips.  This time around we have something
even more crazy in the mix, but you're going to need to be registered
to experience the fun, so please go to
http://igniteorlando2.eventbrite.com/ to RSVP.

If you want to see how awesome Ignite can be, I recommend you watch
a few videos on the official O'Reilly Ignite video podcast
(http://ignite.oreilly.com/show/) You'll find talks on The Secret
History of Fonts, Hydrogen and Helium, Samuari Swords, and even Cyborg
Anthropology.

Hopefully see you guys at Thursday, and then maybe at Ignite.

-Gregg
