I have an account at orkut however since i did not log in into my
yahoo account for almost 4 months the account got deactivated. And i
guess for the same reason i am unable to access my orkut account as
well. The message that appears is that you dont have an account with
google, which is surprising. Now that i have reactivated my yahoo
account the same does not seem to be applicable for my orkut account.
Moreover i always used an yahoo ID to login into orkut for the past 4
years. Now with all the changes that have taken place, do I have to
create an google account for myself or can I still continue my old
yahoo ID.

Even if your yahoo email address gets deactivated it has absolutely no
effect on your orkut account.
If you try to login to your orkut account and it is asking you to
create a new account with the re-activated email , it may be due to
the following reasons:-
1) Due to a bug. Which is affecting many users who are complaining
that when they try to login , they are prompted to make a new account
altogether..when they already have one
2) It may also be due to the fact that you did not confirm your email
after creating the orkut account, and the orkut account got deleted by
itself
If you think you are facing problem number 1, then wait for somedays

I have an existing account with whole lot of messages and friends
which i will have to add all over again. If i am unable to get access
to my old account then i would like google to completely delete the
account from orkut. There is no point running 2 accounts with the same
thing written. Instead it would look more like i am running an proxy
account, or as suggested i can sit and wait for a few days as
mentioned.

Hi Karuna_angelz,
You have to wait for few days as it is already reported to Orkut team.
Can you please provide us your old profile link. Thanks for your
patience.

Here is the link to my profile. However while trying to fix things i
ended up creating a new profile. Can two profiles with the same access
ID exist at the same time. LOST ....need a way out.
