"Opera Link ist mit der Synchronisierung der finalen
Einstellungen beschäftigt. Bitte warten Sie oder klicken Sie auf
Beenden, wenn Sie ohne Synchronisierung abbrechen möchten."

Since one week - after Opera 10.10 - when trying to close Opera,
I get the mysterious error/warning window saying (I translate
from from German):

"Opera Link is occupied with synchronization of the final
options. Please wait or click on "finish" (? end, break up?), if
you wont to break up without synchronization."

I don't remember to have enabled Opera Link. But in case, how can
I disable it?

Because Opera is never ending with this "synchronization" the
only way to finish Opera is clicking on "end". (Without negative
consequences when starting Opera again, but:)

That harrasses me. Has someone other experienced this mysterious
occurrence?

How can I avoid it, stop it?

I'm seeing it regularly lately, I hope it will be fixed in a 10.20 build
because I rely on Opera Link to sync my home/work Macs and the mobile
phone.

You can disable Opera Link via 'Extras > Opera-Link Synchronisierung >
Konfigurieren'

If I menu-choose Extras > Opera Link Synchronization > Show Status
I get: "Opera Link is functioning right" ("Opera Link funktioniert
einwandfrei")

I choose 'Extras > Opera-Link Synchronisierung > Konfigurieren'
comes a window to log-in, with a certain user name and password (I don't
remenber wether I had this written myself, missunderstanding the whole
think, might be …)

If I in this window click: "I do not have an Opera account yet" appears a
window with the possibility to establish one.

But I don't see the possibility to disable Opera Link.

Please give me further enlightenment and possibly an advice, how to
disable Opera Link, because the "Never ending Link synchronization" when
closing Opera still nerves me.

Regards,
joachim

Hm? That should only come up when Opera Link is *not* running. If it is
already running, 'Konfigurieren' should show the options page where you
can select the variuous data types to sync, and below that a 'Disable'
option.

And if Opera isn't running, it can't show a dialog on closing of Opera.

That sounds über-strange. If Opera Link status says everything's fine then
the Konfigurieren page should look somewhat different and give sevral
options including "Opera Link deaktivieren". Perhaps try logging in with
your existing data once and then disable it? Hint: The Link log-in
corresponds with your my.opera.com login in case you have one.

There is a second alternative you could try, open the following advanced
configuration link in your Opera

opera:config#OperaSync|SyncEnabled

If this setting is enabled disable it and save the changes.

Danke, Ralf, dat dää et!

I tried this way first, disabled SyncEnabled (without saving but close the
tab. After the next start of Opera when then again finishing Opera,
=> the "Never ending Link synschronization" had gone away,
the opera:config#OperaSync showd the new configuration (SyncEnabled _not_
marked), and the menu »Extras > Opera Link-Synchronisierung« _offers_
»Link-Synchronisierung aktivieren«, as it should be.

Might be that your other advice »…try logging in with your existing data
once and then disable it?« would have brought the same result, but being
so happy having got the remedy, I don't like to try that out, too.

»Hint: The Link log-in corresponds with your my.opera.com login in case
you have one.«

I don't have one, for the time being not working from other machines.

Dank je ook, Rijk van Geijtenbeek, de screev:

»And if Opera isn't running, it can't show a dialog on closing of Opera.«

Opera could not close then, despite my command, becouse it could not sync
without myopera account, I suppose.
