After 2 days of use, Opera Linux ver. 9.6 and Flash Linux
ver. 10.0.12.36 work well together (on Ubuntu 8.04). Flash
material at Adobe.com and Kingwin.com display fine.

I wish I could tell the same :-(

I've got Slackware 12.1 and Opera 9.6
I tried to install flash player plugin 10.0.12 but Opera doesn't see it.
I've got all paths for plugins set correctly. With flashplayer 9 there's
no problem.
But Opera simply doesn't recognize flash 10!

The file is in place /usr/lib/opera/plugins

Any idea?

No problem here in Debian etch and lenny.

Maybe you should delete the pluginpath.ini and start the search for plugins
again.

Nothing :-( I tried with clean opera installation and even with clean
system installation - without any previous flashplayer files.
Strange. I changed permissions for full read/execute for users etc. but no
luck till now.

Strange. Do you have plugins enabled? (Press f12 to check).

Ah, now I remember. I think that could be the issue with an too old glibc. I had this
problem with 10rc in etch, after upgrading to lenny it works.
I said in my former post that it works with etch, but that wasn't true,
only 9.x worked there.

Look at the output of `ldd pathto/libflashplayer.do` maybe it's the

Hey, slacker and operaer ;-)
adobe.com is extremely slow, so I am not eager to download the 10.

I have both these installed via their Slackbuilds on a Slackware 12.1
system and Flash is working fine.

Of course I've got enabled - as I wrote Flash 9 works :-) and other
plugins as well - such as Adobe Reader :-)

It can't be glibc version problem as I have I think the newest one
glibc-2.7 :-)

Maybe this is the clue. ldd returened several not found dependencies:
libnss3.so => not found
libsmime3.so => not found
libssl3.so => not found
libplds4.so => not found
libplc4.so => not found
libnspr4.so => not found

I'll go set by step to see which one is the problem :-)
Thanks for giving me hope :-D

This is definitely the problem, as I just ran into this. You'll
need these libraries for it to work. They are in the firefox-3.0.3
package in Slackware 12.1, and you'll need to add /usr/lib/firefox-3.0.3
to /etc/ld.so.conf and rerun ldconfig to get it to work.

I now have Flash 10 running successfully with Opera 9.61 x86_64
on Slamd64 too.

Man, you're the best :-)

At the begining I just copied the missing lib files just straight into
/usr/lib and of course ran ldconfig. ldd showed, that libs were found but
still Opera couldn't see flashplayer 10 plugin.
I did as you described and.... voila! It WORKS :-)
