Hello,
I just installed Opera 10.10 on my Debian Etch Linux. And when I press
the middle mouse button the scroll cursor does _not_ pop any longer.
How can I reenable it?

That's normal behaviour on linux, where the middle mouse button defaults
to pasting. Shift + click on an empty part of a page and set the
appropriate option for panning.

Is there a way to make the pointer snap to the middle of the page when
scrolling is enabled, like it used to?

No, except for your own hand holding the mouse.
