For some unknown reason I got some entries in the All Messages / Mailing
List area.

Who puts them there?
How do I stop them from being loaded?

What are they?
What is this Mailing List thingy?

Is this some potential threat?

Could be you, if you recently registered onto a website, and you don't know
that it includes a newsletter using a third-party mailing list service. Some
websites might just recently decided to add a newsletter service, and they
add all of their users as the subscriber.

If you're sure that the mail isn't relevant to any of the websites where you
have an account, then it's pretty much likely a spam or a pishing mail. In
this case, you can either report it via SpamCop website or block the email.

If the email is indeed came from one of the website where you have an
account, usually, there's a link to unsubscribe it. But don't blindly click
it! Check the link address first, and make sure it points to the relevant
website.

If there's no "unsubscribe" link, view the email raw message to see its
headers and look for "List-Unsubscribe". e.g.:

List-Unsubscribe: <mailto:the_subject...@server.com>

Again, make sure the address is at the same server as the email recipient.
If it's the same, send a new email to the "List-Unsubscribe" email address
with no mail subject and with mail body of (no quotes) "unsubscribe". Wait
up for a day to receive a confirmation (or an instruction about the proper
use of "List-Unsubscribe" email address). Depending on the mailing list
server, the word "unsubscribe" might need to be placed in the mail subject
instead of the mail body.

When it comes to education, Wikipedia is your friend.

It can be, depending how relevant the mail is to you. See above.

It's expected. Opera Help is about the Opera browser and its features only.
Use Wikipedia or Google for any other subjects.

Unfortunately, ever since I have used Opera for email and have been
subscribed to mailing lists (about version 9 or so), Opera has been less
than perfect at recognizing mailing list messages on its own. It seems to
recognize only certain mailing list message headers.

I subscribe to various mailing lists hosted at Yahoo and Google. Opera
handles these with no difficulty, as it does lists hosted on a few other
servers. However, I subscribe to two lists, real old-fashioned mailing
lists, which O does not recognize as lists, even though the messages have
common List-... headers in them.. I have had to set up Labels with
Properties in order to get these messages recognized additionally to the
welter of general email. Why O does not recognize these lists on its own,
as it does Yahoo and Google lists, I have never been able to figure out.
