Hello !

Opera11.51 XPHomeSP3

What event triggers the resizing of the Cache?
I've the cache set to 400MB as I'm used to recover things inside it, and during a long session, Cache may grow to 600 or 900MB.

I noticed that closing Opera will resize the cache to 400MB.
I'd like to know how Opera (and if Opera) triggers the resizing of its cache *during* a session.

Hello Laurent !

It's a bit boring to never get an answer from the staff...

Actually, my cache is 1.2GB and 16500 files (set to 400MB).
Does Opera trigger the resizing of cache during a session, or is it mandatory to close it for that purpose?

Try the opera.mail+news group, where it's even more boring :)

In one or more older versions, I think it just didn't happen, except
when restarting Opera, as you say. It has come up as a topic of
discussion.

I speculate that the number of web pages open simultaneously in Opera
may be a factor - since if you have a page open, then you either want
or need to have it cached, reasonably.

Also the specified lifetimes of cached objects - but that is separate
from the size control.

Opera could be performing a "garbage collection" on the cache,
whenever a web page is loaded, or closed, or maybe moved to
foreground. But probably not spontaneously just when you haven't done
anything at all.

I also supposethat it may happen when you click the "OK" or "Apply" in
the cache settings dialog box. Maybe.
