Hello !

Upgrading from 11.60 to 11.61, I don't find the boxes Minimize/Close on each expanded Tab as before.

How could I get back the boxes on the upper right corner Minimize/Maximize/Close?

Are you asking about Prefs > Advanced > Tabs > Additional tab options?

None of the advanced options restores the Minimize/Maximize/Close boxes at the upper righ of the active window.

Confirmed, I am missing them as well in 11.61. They disappeared before
in 10.50 and 10.51 but came back in 10.51. I have put the custom close
button back on my main bar which I had at that time which is a way
around it but not ideal (you can find it somewhere on the MyOpera forums
if you do a search).

Sorry. Do you mean the standard Windows __, [square] and X? Not
confirmed here with RC. Btw, what's an "expanded Tab?"

When a tab is maximized, you cannot close it as you did in 11.60; it's requested to use another way as the boxes on the upper right corner of the maximized tab are leaking in 11.61

I seem to have it working but invisible, on Windows 7 64-bit. If you
click where the close box ought to be, it closes the tab. Confirm?

Other ways to close a tab include:

Key Ctrl+W

Key Ctrl+F4

Allow the "Double-click to close tab" - risky if you find it hard to
be sure which is the tab you're reading, so what you could do, click
once, wait to see that this /is/ the right tab, click twice more.

Mouse gesture.

Say the words "Close page". (In English.) (Windows and additional
download required, I think. Help says Windows 2000 and XP...)

...yes.
:-)

The 3 boxes are there, invisible, in the master bar, on the right.

> Other ways to close a tab include:

I recommend:

-Shft-Click on Tab
-Right click on Tab bar and close, this closes the active window.

Please, somebody could post the way to make the boxes visible again.

Indeed, the 3 boxes Minimize/Reduce/Close for a maximized window are just below the main ones of Opera itself; may be a little bit smaller.
Clicking at the right place is easy.

Have you been following user comments at the developers' blog? It seems
you're not alone in noticing this problem.

I think the answer is "install Opera 11.62". Which might be released
soon because of this problem.

Or, the Opera 12.00 "alpha" release. Understand that in this case
"alpha" means "not as good as beta".

Or, draw the box onto your screen with a pen that you can wipe off...

I've tried changing skin to a downloaded one; that apparently doesn't
fix the problem. However, there is some difference in the standard
skin file between 11.60 and 11.61, at least the size of the zip file.
I didn't try putting the standard 11.60 skin in place for 11.61.

There were at least two security issues in 11.60 mentioned in the
changelog of 11.61, but I don't remember if they are very bad issues.

By the way, I installed 11.61 over 11.60 on a Windows XP computer, and
there is the same problem - in fact, that is where I tried to do
things with skins.

Not sure what you mean by this; let me say what I'm seeing--or, rather, not
seeing--since I foolishly allowed Opera to 'upgrade' itself to 11.61 without
first checking this newsgroup:

Under Tools > Preferences > Advanced > Tabs > Additional tab options... I DO
NOT have "Show close button on each tab" checked. This should mean that a
permanent set of minimize/maximize-restore/close buttons--each of which
affects whichever tab currently has the focus--should appear to the far
right of the menu bar.

But they don't. Appear, that is. They're still sort-of there, in the sense
that if you manage to place the mouse pointer where they should be and then
click, their functions still take place ... but they're invisible.

This is a seriously irritating bug; I trust that a further update is issued
quickly--if only to correct this one rather basic user interface error.

BTW, I've no idea how long an illogicality in the speed dial has been
around, but it needs fixing: if, when you open a new tab, you have Opera set
to show a blank page with "show speed dial" in the bottom right-hand corner,
be warned that clicking on that corner is now a one-way street. The speed
dial images appear, but there's no "hide speed dial" link. You have to
Google for the overly techy solution--which doesn't appear in Opera's online
help for speed dial, and involves going into "about:config"--in order to
undo that incautious click on "show speed dial".

They are slighly smaller than the Opera window ones.

I've bug-reported the problem, in case they haven't picked it up
already. After all, they haven't fixed it yet.

I find that if a tab isn't maximized in the Opera window, then its sub-
window /does/ have visible control buttons of its own.

I couldn't believe that so I checked. They really are there and work
but, just as you say, they're completely invisble!

Question: where should they be if you're not displaying the menu bar?

...but has other problems? <http://my.opera.com/desktopteam/blog/>

(Recently Opera 11.61 itself seemed to not like me reading those
pages. I forget just what went wrong.)

At least if I'm correctly interpreting the lines that say "Reverted",
which I think are saying, "We fixed this problem, but that broke
something else, so we unfixed it."

Not Ready Yet, but good to know. Actually, 11.61 may have those
problems, I just haven't found them...
