Hello,
You can learn about it here:

Thanks, I like the sounds of the technology but what about simple things
like stopping animations from flashing on an object-by-object basis, or
image-by-image basis?

How is that related to improving the use you get from low-speed internet connections?

These animations and so forth cost bandwidth, and besides having to go
into some geek file to turn them off I think there should be a more
all-encompassing system to stop the rot.

It would be possible, technically speaking, to change animated GIFs (and even APNGs) on the server and only send the first frame of the GIF, but it would not be obvious how to get the animated version then (just like it isn't that obvious how to get a non-compressed Jpeg currently, in Turbo mode). When it comes to Flash: that is blocked already, so no animated Flash stuff in Turbo mode. Is animated GIF bloat a serious problem? I mostly encounter them on geocities.com sites nowadays... In the future we might see more annoying use of SVGs. Turbo Mode does not yet touch SVGs, and I don't think it would be easy to remove the animated parts from it.

Like, easier than 'Tools > Quick Preferences' or pressing F12? Or changing Site Preferences?
