I have Opera Beta news group working in Opera 7 but though it updates the
headings I am unable to read any of the posts. A post I did below I found a
reply but had to use Express at work to read it and post this message.

Unless you've changed the settings Opera only downloads headers initially
and you have to click on a post and wait for it to download to retrieve
them.
To change this go to the Mail menu, Manage accounts, (select the account),
Edit..., incoming, download message body when checking.

That way you'll get all bodies when you check for new mail.

I am unable to read posts the headers are displayed in the top window but NO
text is displayed below. I have had to access to news group via Outlook
Express or at work.

As a follow on I am unable to get an updated list of headers all I have
showing is the list as originally downloaded. If Opera is this difficult to
use it needs a lot more work done on it!

I'm having a similar problem as John - I can't read the actual text of
a NG posting.
To better undsetand and narrow ths scope of the problem, let me
explain what I've done up to now....

Initially I could see the top pane with the headers and in the bottom
pane the header and the text of the message for the opera.beta NG, but
after starting Opera Beta 7 up several times, I could no longer see the
text, only the header for the beta NG. Other Opera NGs looked fine, up
to that point.

I tried doing a Reply to a post, hoping I could read the original post
as a quoted text, but when I click on Reply, Opera Beta 7 crashes with
an Application Error.

The problem is progressing to other NGs - I was able to read the
opera.wishlist NG, but now its doing the same as the opeara.beta NG. I
tried doing a full uninstall, rebooting, deleting the folder, rebooting,
and reinstalling; but apparently it didn't fully uninstall, as my history
was still there as well as some preferences.

I did another uninstall, but this time selected the Custom uninstall and
in each of the five or so windows that poped up, I selected Select All;
then did a reinstall. This solved the problem, but just once. When I
started Opera Beta a second time, the problem reappeared and I could not
see the text of the NG message and it crashes with an Application Error.

Try "File | Delete private data" or "File | Preferences | History and
cache | Typed in" (press "Clear").
