How does one get the newer "colored labels" interface on GMail to
appear? I've tried editing the Site Prefs to mask as Firefox or IE.
Despite modifying the URL to have "UI=2", I still consistently get the
older V1 interface.

yes. Maybe we can wait for Google's support of Opera, or you email
gmail team:-)

I ask because the change logs for some recent builds have included
mentions of GMail fixes. I thought that might mean there was a
work-around or trick to let it work.

I can't wait anymore.

1) I want support of Google's GMail, Notebook, Reader and Docs - no matter
from who.
2) Is Opera best browser? Im sure it is. No doubt. But 1) is more
important. Sorry, Opera ASA...

Yeah I agree. Opera is supposed to be the most standards compiant
browser, right ahead of firefox, I would be very surprised if it
couldn't render gmail correctly and if it couldn't I'm sure opera
would fix the problem right away. It just pisses me off that gmail
thinks its so smart and makes it impossible to view ui=2 with opera.
If we want to use ui=2 and it doesn't work, then its our fault.

Snap out of it, Google...

Works fine for me.

The resulting URL after redirection I see is:

http://mail.google.com/mail/?nocheckbrowser&disablechatbrowsercheck=1

This leads to another question. If it works anyway, why's it disabled?
