9.50b2 doesn't open jnlp applications

Platform: Ubuntu 8.04, Intel Pentium M,
Opera 9.50 beta 2 build 1933

I try to open a JNLP application that worked fine in Opera 9.2x, and
Opera 9.50b2 just opens the XML file inline, stripped of tags.

Looking at the HTTP transaction with wireshark, I see that the content
type of the XML file, is application/x-java-jnlp-file.

Looking at
Tools->Preferences... Advanced->Downloads
I see that application/x-java-jnlp-file is present, and mapped to
/usr/local/j2sdk/bin/javaws, which is correct.

Does Opera 9.50b have problems with external programs? Is there some
enabling setting I need to have?
