opera bugzilla or equivalent

really nice, as it is there isn't much of a chance to tell which bugs have
been reported/are being tracked by Opera at the moment. Basically, it all
comes down to a lack of feedback; it appears to me that Opera don't really
care to keep their userbase informed as to what they know doesn't work /
what they are doing to correct things.

Opera have bugzilla (or a derivative thereof these days) but it isn't open
to the public. In the old days if you were sneaky you could manage to
search their bugzilla by using your own form (or the bugzilla.mozilla.org
one and fiddling the query a bit) but they've long since closed that little
hole.
Basically it's a policy decision on Opera's part (and a longstanding one
what has been debated publically many times before) to keep their bug
system private. In part this is probably because they do a lot of work with
third parties (mobile phone makers etc) under NDA and ensuring that the
wrong info doesn't get made public is a task they'd rather not waste time
with. Opera remains a fairly small company (for what it achieves) and
resource management must be an important issue. From the companies
perspective opening up the bugs to the public would probably significantly
increase administrative overhead with marginal practical payback for the
company.
Some of the Opera employees themselves are certainly pro a bit more
disclosure, but basically it's company policy and rehashing the debate one
more time isn't going to do anyone any favours (and it certainly doesn't
belong in opera.beta).

They read opera.beta and you can assume they are trying to fix most
bugs. Check the changelogs after the next beta has been released.
