Just to add that chrome (14.x) works fine for me too (Mac OS 10.x). Safari 5.x has issues in running GWT should might work on some machines and others not. They basically changed the javascript rendering engine to some custom apple lib (webkit) that broke legacy code (hosted mode does not even work, I think the latest firefox has the same problem).
Earlier safari versions prior to 5.x should work fine.
Might this be a right time to document firefox as the default browser?
Just thought I should add this information here.

Hmmm.
I have tested on a couple of different machines and the only consistent
behavior I'm getting is that it works on Win7 32bit machines but not on
64bit machines.
The other possible issue I can think of is that my locale is set to
Norwegian - but I have tried changing on a 32bit win7 machine - without
any change of behavior.
In it works I mean that Chrome, Firefox and Opera behave correctly - but
not IE.
Does anybody else have win 7 64bit that can verify this?

I'm running win7 x64, I'll see if I can reproduce it.

Jørn, how are you running this when you see the white screen? Are you
deploying in Tomcat? I think I can see the issue, but I just want to
double-check that I'm isolating your observed behavior.
