Hi,

I am new to ruote (ruote-kit) and have a dummy question. Since ruote
is a ruby gem, why it needs a wrapper like ruote-kit? Or what's the
purpose of the ruote-kit wrapper? I would think calling ruote directly
in app would be most efficient.

Thanks.

Hello Emc,

welcome to the ruote mailing list.

Yes, you can directly use ruote without using ruote-kit.

Ruote-kit provides a nice web admin interface usable standalone or in a Rails
(Rack) application.

Best regards,

John,

thanks for the reply. Is there any detail about how to integrate ruote
and rails? Any document or help would be appreciated.

Hi,

You can use ruote directly as a gem. I have tried it before with Rails
2.3.8 and ruote 2.1.11 using local storage.

Hi,

RuoteKit is just a wrapper. I started with RuoteKit and then slowly backed it out using info from the group and ruote.rubyforge.org. It's a good starting point to understand Ruote.

If you have specific questions, the group is ridiculously helpful (especially John).

Regards,
Damon
