Google has released plugin package for debian based distributions, however fear not, here is a tarball that should work on any recent Linux distribution. All that is required is download, extract and restart of Mozilla based browsers.

It may break something if libraries are not compilable. Best luck ;) (At least in Fedora, I got news)

After following your instruction to install plugin ; noemy firefox
unable to start. Also google chrome crashed while log in to gmail.
please help. I can't live without firefox.

What distro is that on?
Just remove the files installed by the tarball. Extract it to some place and see where it has copied files then do something like : rm -rf /opt/google...

I've just created an RPM from the tarball. This should make it easy to
install/remove. I can forward/upload this here if anyone is
interested. I can't put this in the openSUSE build service as they do
not accept packaged binaries. I have tested this under openSUSE 11.3
by doing a video/voice chat in Gmail/Google Chrome and it worked
without problems.
You must first install libopenssl0_9_8 and glew. Both are available
from the main OSS repository/DVD.
Once done, you would need to install the talk plugin with the nodeps
option as below
