How do I get the current user's friends' data via @self people calls?
The code I have works for installed app users, but when I try to use
the @self people call for friends of the current user, it fails. Is
there a way to use the current user's token in order to get this data?

You want to use (@me, @friends), or (@viewer, @friends).
