Not able to understand "req.newUpdatePersonAppDataRequest"

Hi,
I am new in open social.
I have an exprience of working with the facebook application.
I am going through the tutorial of developing an orkut application.
http://code.google.com/apis/opensocial/articles/tutorial/tutorial-0.7.html

I have seen at many places they are using
"req.newUpdatePersonAppDataRequest" with some parameters.
I want to know what is the use of this?
Can anyone point me to any URL at which I will get all information
about all these methods?
