Hello All,

Current OpenSocial implementation does not allow removal of stored items.

The removal makes sense as it reduces load on data store if application removes unused and old data. It also allows developers to threat missing and removed data keys differently from just empty strings.

We prefer explicit calls to remove Person App Data such as:

newRemovePersonAppDataRequest(idSpec, keys)

It makes sense to allow removal from Global Data store(if resurrected) as well

FYI,
In Orkut person data can currently be removed by setting the value of a key to empty string (""). This will cause both the key and the value to be deleted to free up space and quota.  This is a short-term hack until a proper clearPersonAppData call is supported in the spec.

There is a way to clear data in the manual, however I'm not sure this is part of the spec or just someone's interpretation.

That section should probably be clarified a bit to indicate that this is an orkut-only feature.  Writing docs for OpenSocial is hard :(

+1 for an explicit call

As with updating of person app data, we only allow removal for VIEWER
related app data. Is that the current implementation at Orkut? I'm
not sure how OWNER or other values of id_spec would be secure, but I
could be missing something.

Thx...

Paul, you're correct, Orkut only allows modification of the VIEWER's app data.
